Resonance Codex
Three related terms describe three different parts of this project. Keeping them distinct makes every entry easier to understand.
The Resonance Doctrine
The Doctrine is the foundational statement of the HPCU's understanding of magic.
It functions like a constitution: a short collection of high-level propositions establishing the principles upon which the larger theory is built.
The Doctrine remains concise. It states what the Resonance model currently holds to be true without attempting to fully explain or defend every proposition.
Individual propositions may later be revised if deeper examination of canon exposes problems or contradictions.
Resonance Theory
Resonance Theory is the developing explanation of how and why the principles expressed in the Doctrine may operate.
It is where canon evidence is examined, competing interpretations are considered, implications are explored, and new ideas are stress-tested.
Resonance Theory is deliberately incomplete. It should not be treated as an infallible or finished scientific model of magic. Some questions may remain unresolved, and some propositions may change as the theory develops.
The Resonance Codex
The Resonance Codex is the complete living body of work.
It contains the Resonance Doctrine, the developing Resonance Theory, and the individual deep dives through which particular areas of magic and the wizarding world are examined.
The Codex is therefore not itself a single theory. It is the book, or continuity bible, in which the Doctrine, theory, evidence, interpretations, questions, and conclusions are collected and developed.
The Doctrine establishes the principles. Resonance Theory investigates them. The Resonance Codex records and develops the whole.
